This is the second time that’s happened. And that story is at:
http://johnofmirecourt.wordpress.com/

And the list is available there. All those horrible left wing news sites. Which makes you wonder just what direction the Columbian leans…

Why are they are so concerned about their readers seeing different points of view?

The Columbian doesn’t post their standards of acceptability, but cuts and bans with no notification.

So, I wonder how long I get to use this login?

Hmmm, there were several posts by D. Evans in the Feb 28 thread that just disappeared in the last 12 hours.

As were some of mine……

Much like the poorly retouched Soviet censorship. If the editors would actually go and remove all the responses, it would be a bit less obvious.

So, we had some crash in the summer, causing a loss of records – that’s poor management. And now we have someone, yes anonymous and un-contactable, deleting posts up to 20 hours after posting. That’s censorship. Granted, it is a private site (edit: privately owned) that can make a choice of what is posted or not. But to do that without posting a statement of criteria is, sorry for the broken record, poor management and yes, censorship.

So, I’m guessing that there are some arbitrary and undefined standards being capriciously and erratically applied. I’ve noticed long delays in posting, and now pages being refreshed after ‘processing’ without the new post being added. Glad the management feels that is worth spending their (our) money on. It won’t be mine.

For the local paper of record, this is outrageous. At least be polite enough to send a reason why. But that would be good management and communication. What should we expect from a newspaper.

Thinking that the editors must have thought the 1798 Alien and Sedition Acts were a good idea, The banned John of Mirecourt posting also at http://johnofmirecourt.wordpress.com/

Postings to the Opinion discussion page started taking a long time to process. Or would process and the post not appear…

Then wouldn’t process…..

Then not able to log in…

And no letter sent, no policy stated, just inexplicable dead ends on threads….

Seems to be an unstated policy, many searches link to dead ends…

Free speech?
